Direct from the Deep
Explore the deep sea as if you were there? Yes, it's now possible with the Tempo-Mini module on the Neptune-Canada website!
Obtaining images by scuba diving is a perilous and expensive exercise. Moreover, it is logistically difficult to station the equipment on site for periods exceeding a few weeks... To overcome this problem, a module has been developed by the Technological Research and Development Unit in collaboration with Ifremer's Deep Environment Laboratory. This "Tempo-Mini" observation module was successfully deployed at a depth of over 2000 m (2186 m to be exact) and 400 km off the Canadian coast on the Neptune-Canada observatory (Endeavour site).
Thanks to this technologically innovative work, long-term monitoring studies are now possible.
