Sabine Gollner, Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research
Dr. Sabine Gollner is a deep-sea benthic ecologist at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ). In 2009, she obtained her PhD in ecology/zoology at the University of Vienna/Austria, and continued her work as a Humboldt postdoctoral fellow in Germany. She was researcher at the Senckenberg Research Institute/Germany, and was engaged in the project “Managing Impacts of Deep Sea Resource Exploitation”.
At NIOZ, her current studies include resilience of hydrothermal vent fauna in the Atlantic and Pacific, as well as diversity and restoration of fauna after test-mining impact at nodule fields in the Clarion-Clipperton Zone.
Sabine is regularly lecturing at Utrecht University, has worked as managing editor for the journal “Marine Biodiversity”, and is associate editor for “Marine Biodiversity” and “Frontiers in Marine Science”.
She is member of the Netherlands delegation to the International Seabed Authority and co-lead of the Minerals Working Group of the Deep Ocean Stewardship Initiative.
