EDEN 2024 Campaign, Assessment of the diversity and environment of nodule zones

EDEN 2024 oceanographic campaign from 19/11/2024 to 02/01/2025, Clarion-Clipperton zone - piloted by Pierre-Antoine Dessandier.
At a time when industrialists are interested in the metals and rare earths found in the deep seabed, Ifremer scientists are heading for the Clarion-Clipperton zone to discover the biodiversity that lives on the Atalante, part of the French Oceanographic Fleet operated by Ifremer and its armament subsidiary Genavir, the EDEN campaign teams are studying the abyssal plains of this Pacific region from November 2024 to January 2025 to gain a better understanding of the biodiversity associated with polymetallic nodules and how these ecosystems function.
